Ron and Pat Duncan live on a 20-acre farm south of Prairie Grove. About 15 years ago we decided to plant a package of gourd seeds in hopes of making birdhouses for the many blue birds we have on our property. The resulting crop exceeded all our expectations and after making the birdhouses we had a multitude of leftover gourds. About that time we happened to come across a gourd-crafting book at the local library – and that was the beginning of our fascination with gourd art. It is a hobby we enjoy together. Ron grows most of the gourds we use for our craft and also does the carving and finishing. Pat uses a wood burning tool, plus acrylic paints and various dyes to create designs, most of which are one of a kind.
